De-Mystifying Defined Benefit Plans

April 24, 2019 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm EDT

$25.00 – $75.00

Defined benefit (DB) plans like cash balance plans can be intimidating to non-actuaries. These plans are commonly combined with our DC plans. But, DB actuarial reports, calculations and terminology can be overwhelming. Therefore, it is important that DC experts can understand how these plans work, how to translate the DB reports into nontechnical language, and how the information on the reports will affect the existing DC plan. This the session that will help you do that!

Attendees will:

  • Understand how to interpret actuarial reports
  • Learn to identify the provisions in the DC plan that will need to be modified to accommodate a combo plan design
  • Figure out how to work with the actuary to make sure that the DC plan fits properly with the DB plan in operation; and
  • Recognize combo DC/DB plan opportunities

Join Lorraine Dorsa, one of our favorite actuarial resources, for a discussion of these issues.  Session registration fee includes lunch at Davio’s.  It is PECA’s belief that this session qualifies for 2 hours of continuing education credit.  Continuing education is self-reported and certificate of attendance will be provided.  ERPA CE has been applied for by PECA.
